De charismatische avonturier Sir Lionel Frost is stomverbaasd wanneer hij diep in de Amerikaanse bossen de ontbrekende schakel tussen aap en mens ontdekt. Deze toepasselijk genaamde Link is echter allesbehalve een monster. Hij is verrassend slim en charmant, maar ook eenzaam omdat hij alleen leeft en niet weet waar hij vandaan komt. Bijgestaan door de temperamentvolle avonturier Adeline Fortnight, gaan Link en Sir Lionel op een razend spannend avontuur op zoek naar Links lang verloren familie: de Yeti’s.
Missing Link is geschreven en geregisseerd door Chris Butler, die zijn waarde al heeft bewezen als schrijver voor ‘Kubo en het Magische Harnas’ en schrijver/regisseur voor ‘ParaNorman’. Met deze grappige familiefilm, lijkt Laika afstand te nemen van de duistere werelden van zijn eerdere films. De studio hoopt dat het verhaal een diepgaande boodschap bevat van acceptatie en het vinden van iemands plaats.
